HOW TO ENTER

  • 1. We want you to unleash your inner rockstar and create your own video and upload it on our competition site at www.releaseyourrockstar.com


Once we receive your video, we will give it the quick once over to ensure that its content is acceptable for public viewing. If it gets the green light, we'll then place you into the weekly montage.



THE PRIZES



  • 1. The Prizes are:


Prize 1

You will become a character in Guitar Hero. You'll need to upload your video by midnight CET on 11th April 2008 to be in with a chance of winning Prize 1. You will also need to be available to travel to Los Angeles between 21-24th April You must also have a valid passport.



Prize 2

You'll need to upload your video by midnight CET on 13th June 2008 to be in with a chance of winning Prize 2, 1 of 2 total VIP rock experiences. You will get to fly out to the US and spend time with the band, The Answer, as they record their new album in the studio.



Runners up prize 1

You'll need to upload your video by midnight CET on 13th June 2008 so you can be in with a chance of winning a runners up prize of 1 of 16 Addict She CamoIII SOFTswitch(tm) Jacket with integrated iPod controls and matching iPod cover.



Runners up prize 2

You'll need to upload your video by midnight CET on 13th June 2008 so you can to be in with a chance of winning runners up prize 2 1 of 25 XBOX 360's and a copy of the game.



Runners up prize 3

You'll need to upload your video by midnight CET on 13th June 2008 so you can be in with a chance of winning 1 of 300 customised guitar faceplates for your XBOX 360 controller



Runners up prize 4

You'll need to upload your video by midnight CET on 13 June 2008 so you can be in with a chance of winning 1 of 50 rock albums on CD from EMI.



  • 2. You can send us hundreds of videos if you wish but you can't win any single prize twice. No third party entries, bulk entries, or entries submitted by agents, will be accepted.



WINNERS

  • 3. Winners will be notified by email within 24 hours of winning. Winners are selected at random from a prize pool comprising valid entrants. If a winner fails to claim the prize within 24 hours of this notification, he or she from all participating countries will forfeit the prize, and a new winner for that prize will be selected. Participating countries are Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the UK.
  • 4. The winners' details (name and county) will be made available on request to anyone sending a stamped self-addressed envelope to Rock Icon Competition, Activision, 3 Roundwood Avenue, Stockley Park, Uxbridge, UB11 1AF UK
  • 5. If you win, you may be required to participate in publicity arising from this competition although we can't guarantee to make you a star. If you win the 1st Prize we'll also give you a video camera and laptop so you can create your own video blog charting your experiences of becoming an in game character in Guitar Hero.

USAGE

  • 6. By submitting your video, you consent to, permit and grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, sub-licensable and transferable licence for the full period of copyright to use, reproduce, distribute, perform, edit, adapt, synchronise with music, make derivative works or otherwise use your video and your performance in it in whole or in part in any media and through any media channel, including without limitation the right to make your video available for download and/or use it for our promotional and publicity purposes worldwide. You agree to the use of your name and likeness in such publicity. You hereby waive any and all "moral" rights which you may have with respect to the video and/or performance and/or use of name and/or likeness and acknowledge that you shall not be entitled to any payment or remuneration of any kind in consideration of your consent, permission and/or grant of licence and/or that any consideration from Activision is full and equitable remuneration of the same.



CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  • 7. By entering the Competition you agree to these Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. Entry is by registering and uploading your video. Alternatively you can submit your entry without uploading your video.
  • 8. It is not guaranteed that sending us your video will ensure its appearance on the competition web site www.releaseyourrockstar.com. We do not undertake to upload your video and we reserve the right not to upload any video in our sole discretion. No correspondence will be entered into.
  • 9. You must be 16 or over to enter this Competition. These Terms and Conditions are for UK residents.
  • 10. Your video can be recorded in any format up to 80MB in size.
  • 11. Your video must be your own original work and your sole and exclusive property. By entering the competition, you warrant that your video has not previously been published or won an earlier prize.



LEGAL

  • 12. You must not upload material that is unlawful, offensive, obscene, defamatory, discriminatory, threatening, pornographic, harassing, hateful or racist, or encourages dangerous, irresponsible, anti-social or criminal behaviour. You confirm that you have no criminal convictions which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You agree that you shall not do anything to bring Activision or its products or associates into disrepute.
  • 13. You warrant that you own or control all of the rights to all relevant copyright materials and/or other intellectual properties contained in your video (including any music, artworks, underlying works, scripts, formats or photographs featured within it) that are necessary for the Usage. If anyone other than you appears in your video, you warrant that you have obtained their permission to use their name, likeness and performance on the same terms as set out in these Terms and Conditions (including Usage).
  • 14. We reserve the right to disqualify any video, which in our opinion has not complied with these Terms and Conditions together with the right to remove any such video from the Channel and/or any other media within our control. You agree not to distribute or display or permit others to distribute or display any video of yours which has been disqualified on this basis.

LIABILITY

  • 15. By participating in this competition, you agree to release, discharge and hold us harmless from any and all injuries, liability, losses and damages of any kind resulting from your participation in this competition, including without limitation any breach or alleged breach by you of these Terms and Conditions, or your acceptance or use of a prize (save that nothing shall limit our liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence).
  • 16. If you submit a video that includes material the rights in which are owned by a third party, including intellectual property rights such as copyright and trademarks, you will be responsible and liable for any claims, legal action, costs and/or damages that party may take or seek against you and/or us.



GENERAL

  • 17. All prizes are non-transferable and there are no cash alternatives. If however, for whatever reason a prize becomes unavailable due to circumstances outside of our control we will provide an alternative prize.
  • 18. No responsibility is accepted for any network, hardware or software failure or error of any kind or for any late, lost, corrupted or delayed transmissions.
  • 19. By participating in this competition, you will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. No purchase is necessary to enter this competition.   • We reserve the right to moderate the comments that are posted on this site.
